Conditional sentences

1.    There are three kinds of conditional sentences
a.    Type 1 (probable condition)
b.    Type 2 (improbable condition)
c.    Type 3 (impossible condition)
Conditional sentences have two parts :
a.    If.clause
b.    Main.clause

Rumus :
Probable condition : if S + V1 s/es , S + will + V1 + O
Improbable condition : if S + V2 , S + would + V1 + O
Impossible condition : if S + had + V3 , S + would + have + V3 + O

Note :
Jika “S” orang ketiga tunggal, maka menggunakan s pada verb 1

2.    Type 1 (probable condition)
It means that it is probable that the action in the if.clause happens.
Observe the following example :
If you study hard, you will get good grades.
“it means that it is probable for you to study hard”
If it happens, you will get good grades

Note :
-       The verb in the if.clause is in the present tense, the verb in the main.clause is in the future

3.    Type 2 (improbable condition)
This type states that the action in the if.clause is improbable observe the following example :
If I had enough money, I would buy that book.
“it means that at that time of speaking I have no money, so I don’t buy the book”
It is improbable for me to buy that book.

Note :
The verb in the if.clause is in the past tense, the verb in the main.clause is in the conditional tense.
(tipe kedua menyatakan bahwa kegiatan dalam if clause tidak mungkin terjadi saat ini, oleh karena itu kondisi dalam main clause tidak dapat terpengaruhi)

4.    Type 3 (impossible condition)
This is type indicates that the action in the if.clause did not happen in the past, so the condition cannot be fulfilled.
(tipe ketiga menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan dalam if.clause tidak dapat terjadi pada waktu lampau, oleh karena itu kondisi dalam main.clause mustahil terpenuhi)

Observe the following example :
If I had known you were at home, I would have phoned you last night.
It means that I didn’t know that you were at home last night, so I didn’t phoned you.

Note :
-       The verb in the if.clause is in the past perect tense, the verb in the main.clause is in perfect conditional
